IMERYS to Raise Prices for Kaolins
to the Paper Industry.

August 16th 2005

IMERYS announces that the prices of its kaolin products for the global paper industry will increase effective from 1st October 2005 or as commitments allow. This price increase will average US$15.00 per ton for Georgia kaolins, £15.00 for UK kaolins and US$30.00 for Brazilian kaolins.

Dramatic increases in energy and chemical costs are the primary drivers for these price increases. Furthermore, the continuous strengthening of the Brazilian Real over the last two years has significantly impacted the cost of Brazilian produced clays.
