The increased focus on recycling and sustainable packaging is driving the trend for water-based barrier coatings to replace fluorocarbon and extruded polymer barrier coatings. Platey kaolins incorporated with appropriate polymers can provide effective barrier performance against water, gases and grease. Application

Capim™ RG has superior brightness compared to conventional high shape rotogravure kaolins. This combination of brightness and high shape can help meet market demands for brightness in LWC rotogravure while maintaining excellent printability. This is particularly important in rotogravure applications where the talc usage is low and the kaolin has to impart coverage and printability as well as optical performance. Capim™ RG also gives excellent coverage of rougher basestocks and can be used to good effect in more demanding precoating applications.

Deltatex™ has a carefully controlled porous structure with high internal void volume. Pore size and distribution have been optimized to provide maximum light scatter and oil absorption. As a result of this light scattering porous structure, coatings containing Deltatex™ have high brightness and opacity as well as excellent ink receptivity.
