Artisanal Fishing project:
São João in Vila do Conde / Barcarena in partnership with
IRCC
,
have become entrepreneurs within their subsistence activity.
The Fishing Project enables them to achieve a number of
benefits, including receiving technical training and Professional
Fishermen cards from the Belém Port Authority ­ Brazilian
Navy. The initiative has enabled fishermen to establish the
Association of Dwellers on the Island of São João (AMIS) that
manages this and other projects.
Income regeneration project:
The project working in partnership with EMATER/PA aims at
transforming the socio-economic reality of the community
through sustainable subsistence activities, respecting and
appreciating the culture of local inhabitants. The following
communities are involved: Cajueiro, Aparecida, Oliveira, Sto.
Antônio and Sta. Maria do Bacuri, located within the
municipality of Ipixuna in northeastern Pará, the area around
the company mine. Activities include: community vegetable
gardens, planting without burning, açaí husbandry, fish
farming and handicraft.
Dressmaking Project:
Creates work opportunities, generates income and transforms
riverside dwellers into entrepreneurs, thus fostering self-esteem
and citizenship with the respect to the culture of the region.
Ampagesta Project:
With a focus on pregnant women, this project aims at
developing the quality of life through education incentives.
They learn how to take better care of their health during
pregnancy, improve their family relationship, also
attending occupational workshops as opportunities for
income improvement.
Environmental Education Project:
The Project stimulates community knowledge and awareness
concerning issues relating to the environment and the
Company by working on habits and culture.
`Luz do Amanhã' Project:
This activity promotes the socio-pedagogical and playful
development between educators and students with the
participation of their parents, in addition to improving the
school infrastructure.

LOCAL COMMUNITIES LOCATED NEAR OUR PLANT IN
BARCARENA AND OUR MINE IN IPIXUNA, PARÁ STATE
Our programmes benefit many communities. Families are
provided with the opportunity to create a better future with
a focus on issues such as health, education and income
generation. Listed below are some of the programmes that
we have introduced to the local community with help from
local organisations.
Healthy Smile :
In addition to educating children and pre-adolescents on oral
health through a broad prevention work programme, this project
also offers dental treatment.
Child and Art project:
This project promotes learning through artistic activities to help
bring an improvement to family relationships and improved
performance at school.
