Over the coming decade we will
continue to invest in ongoing
education for IMERYS employees and
we will work hard to attract individuals
who compliment the team already in
place. We will be more diverse in terms
of cultures, reflecting our growth in
distinct markets around the world.
You will see local people in charge,
receiving training and access to all
talents within IMERYS, and more
exchanges.
IMERYS needs to be highly valued as a
place to work by those of us already
here, and new blood, too. It's important
for us to portray our positive image
about ourselves, as we are doing with
our new marcom campaign, also
featured in this issue.
What's the real evidence of the
character of IMERYS today? It's a
strategically driven and thoughtful
management team, supporting a
focused workforce to meet the needs
of customers now and in the future.
In paper we are leading the industry in
multi-pigments on an ever-increasing
basis, and returning profits to investors.
Heavy investment in all strategic
markets is built around our core
competence bright, imaginative
people. Of course we have unique
mineral assets, and we will continue to
expand upon these and grow through
acquisition and joint ventures.
But, look at the number of patents
awarded to IMERYS, compared with
competition. Look at our level of
cooperation with universities, and R&D
organisations. Look at our success with
safety, and commitment to further
reductions in incidents.
My hardest job is cutting employment
at any given location. But, I must act
prudently on behalf of the overall
corporation, and do what it takes to
create long-term sustainability.
Our measure of ourselves is always
striving to be a notch above for our
people, shareholders, communities,
and nature.
Take a look at our Sustainability report
on the web from time to time, or read
about our Safety University. Or send
me an email with your thoughts about
making IMERYS an even better place
for the future. I am listening to you,
customers and communities every
chance I get.
